Saint Apollonia was a third-century Christian martyr whose teeth were broken during a violent persecution in Alexandria. Because of the suffering she endured while remaining steadfast in her faith, she became the patron saint of dentists and those experiencing toothaches or other dental difficulties. She represents courage, endurance, and faith in the face of pain.
This vigil may be petitioned for relief from dental distress, guidance toward an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment, calm before a dental appointment, or a comfortable recovery following an extraction, root canal, oral surgery, or other procedure. Saint Apollonia may also be asked to guide and protect dentists, hygienists, oral surgeons, and other dental professionals as they care for their patients. This spiritual work may be set alongside appropriate professional dental care.
Your vigil will be carefully dressed, blessed, petitioned, and burned on your behalf by Divine Harmony Spiritual Church. You will receive a photograph of your candle vigil.
