Carmenta is an ancient Roman goddess associated with childbirth, prophecy, mothers, children, and midwives. Her name is connected to the Latin word carmen, meaning a song, oracle, or spell, and Roman tradition also credits her with helping introduce the alphabet that developed into Latin. As a goddess of both birth and foresight, she presides over moments when something new is being brought into the world and the path ahead is uncertain.
A Carmenta vigil may be petitioned when trying to conceive, during pregnancy, in preparation for childbirth, or for the well-being of a mother and child. She may also be called upon for prophetic guidance, inspiration, wise communication, and help navigating an important transition or new beginning.
Your vigil will be carefully dressed, blessed, petitioned, and burned on your behalf by Divine Harmony Spiritual Church. You will receive a photograph of your candle vigil. If you select the optional emailed report, you will also receive our observations and interpretation of any signs seen during the burn.
